Amy Smith (23) from the UK, mother of two boys Elijah (6 years old) and Remy (1 year old) – says that other parents judge her for her tattooed skin, the staff Guards follow her in shops and other parents cross the street to keep her away from their children.

She feels more pressure from those who believe that women should look stereotypically feminine, especially as a mother. She was even told, ” You shouldn’t look like that”.

Eldest son Elijah always defends his mother against the comments of strangers. The 6-year-old boy even designed a tattoo for his mother to cheer him up.

Amy said: “Now that I have two children, Elijah and Remy, my tattoos attract a lot of attention. Parents my age can be very judgmental – some parents cross the street to kick their kids away from me, and I tend to be followed by security in stores I don’t know.

My children have seen negative comments and they see how it makes me feel. I feel like my kids are more accepting than most people because of that.

However, there are things that are truly heartwarming. I get to talk a lot on the track or at school events, and parents have even turned to me and told me they’d love to get tattoos like me.

I know that as a parent, I shouldn’t be afraid to be who I want to be.”

It gave me many opportunities. I feel comfortable with people. own and I want to encourage my children to do the same.”

Now, Amy wants to prove that tattoos can be a great art form and open many doors for her, including her modeling career. She hopes to raise her sons to be open and accepting of others – no matter how they look or how they dress.

Amy said: “I’ve always been interested in tattoos. I remember watching Miami Ink when I was about 10 years old, and since then my heart has been focused on getting tattoos and learning how to do them.

I got my first tattoo when I was 13 – a stick and poke tattoo. Because I was so passionate about learning how to tattoo, I bought a tattoo machine for my 14th birthday. That helped me get the practice I needed to get into the industry.”
