Matt Gone (USA) re-set the Guinness record for the number of squares tattooed on the body. He has held this record for 8 years since 2014 with a total of 848 squares on his body. The tattooed squares spread across Matt’s body, on his head alone he has tattooed 201 squares.
To get the huge number of tattoos, Matt Gone had to spend 173,000 pounds (about 185,000 USD) on hundreds of tattoos on his body.
The American man shared about the reason for the square tattoo that covered his body: “Since I was a kid, I have realized that checkered patterns are everywhere, from children’s board toys, art to fashion. . I know it’s hard to do, but that was my initial idea of getting a tattoo . “
It is known that his love for tattoos began at the age of 14. He tattooed himself using Indian needles and ink. By the age of 15, his mother could not stand his homemade tattoo and agreed to let the eccentric man get a professional tattoo.
In addition to the skin on the outside of the body, this man also tattooed most of the oral cavity, including details inside the mouth or even the inside of the throat. Gone’s eyeballs are also colored green, blue, red, purple, and yellow. He also tattooed private parts of his body.
Besides his square tattoos, Matt has several other tattoos that have been done by 155 different people. These include a phoenix around the neck, flowers on the ears, a compass on top of the head, and more.
Owning a tattoo that covers almost 99% of his body, Gone has encountered many harsh comments and words, but those reactions have improved in recent times.
“In this day and age, people have less discriminatory attitudes. In 1998, I tattooed my entire head, from neck to jaw, and amazed many people. They were surprised with my eyes, but most shocked when they saw the ink-filled tongue. It’s also a top quality tattoo,” he said.
Besides, he also said that he is very proud and feels happy with the tattoos on his body.
“Tattoos make me interested in my body. Although I’m not tall, I’m not pretty, but the tattoos make me like my body more. It makes me feel alive despite all these mutations and birth defects.”
Receiving the Guinness World Record title as the person with the most square tattoos for eight years in a row, Matt said he was very proud of this.
“This is the pinnacle of my life, literally dumbfounded with happiness. I feel like I have succeeded in my life because of this.”
